The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Anti-Aging | Telomere Lengthening

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, increasing oxygen delivery to tissues. Emerging research, particularly a 2020 prospective trial on healthy adults aged 64+, suggests it may mitigate aging at the cellular level through specific protocols (e.g., 60 sessions over 90 days at 2 ATA with intermittent air breaks).
Musculoskeletal

For patients healing from injuries, surgeries, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions, HBOT enhances oxygen delivery to muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue. This can speed recovery from fractures, sprains, ligament tears, and post-operative procedures, while reducing pain and stiffness.
Enhanced Healing & Recovery

Whether recovering from surgery, a sports injury, or a slow-healing wound, HBOT accelerates tissue repair by boosting collagen production, promoting new blood vessel growth, and reducing healing times. This makes it a valuable complement to medical and rehabilitative care.

Consultation
A trained medical professional will explain the HBOT experience, discuss your wellness goals, and assess whether you may be a good candidate for treatment.

Develop a Plan for HBOT
Your care team will design a customized treatment plan just for you, including how many sessions you’ll have, how long each session will last, and the appropriate pressure settings.

HBOT Day of Treatment
Following a safety review, patients are guided into the chamber, where they can relax—watch television, listen to music, or take a nap—while receiving the benefits of pressurized oxygen.

Follow Up Analysis
Our team will follow up with patients to review progress and track the effectiveness of their treatment.

Conditions
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently recognizes hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for 14 medical conditions, many of which are typically covered by insurance. HBOT may also offer potential benefits for additional conditions that have not yet received FDA approval. Many of these applications are supported by ongoing research and are widely treated with HBOT in clinics around the world.
Treatment for non–FDA-approved conditions is generally not covered by insurance and is often unavailable at hospital-based hyperbaric centers. As an independent clinic, HMS has the flexibility to care for patients whose physicians determine may benefit from HBOT. When insurance coverage is not available, we offer multiple payment options and financial assistance programs to help make care accessible.
A list of FDA-approved conditions, along with select non–FDA-approved indications, is provided below.
Covered Conditions
Also referred to as on-label, these conditions have been approved by the FDA for HBOT and are generally covered by insurance.
*Approved by the Undersea Medical Society (UHMS), not the FDA.
Non-Covered Conditions
Conditions that have not yet been approved by the FDA. In general, off-label conditions are not covered by insurance.
